Whether you are a Staunton resident, downtown worker or visitor drawn to our celebrated architecture, popular restaurants, interesting museums, exciting theater, or cornucopia of shops, we think you’ll find our trolley buses the ideal way to get around Downtown… Actually, a lot of folks have found them handy. More than 300,000 have already ridden the trolley… And more every day!
The Staunton trolley now runs three routes. There is a 25 cent charge to ride the trolley.
The Green Route runs Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Green Route includes the downtown area, the Wharf and Gypsy Hill Park. (The Green Route runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. during winter months (January 1 until April 30) each year.) Trolleys make the route and pass every stop once every half hour. The trolley has designated stops indicated by signs. However, drivers will try to pick up riders along the route if, in their judgement, it can be done safely and if their schedule permits.
The new Silver Route runs from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. each WEEKDAY and serves many areas of the city connecting senior citizen communities, apartment complexex, the YMCA, stores and connects to other trolleys and transportation services at the Visitor’s Center.
The Red Route runs from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It connects the downtown area, Gypsy Hill Park, the Main Post Office area, and the YMCA.
During snowy or icy weather, the trolleys follow the same delay or cancellation schedule as the city school buses.
