The Staunton Senior Center has recently begun operation in their new permanent home at Gypsy Hill Place! Located on the lowest level of the school building facing Albemarle Avenue, this 6,100 square foot area provides a large and updated facility to support day-to-day activities, such as fitness programs, outings, crafts, games, and health promotions. The new space also enables the Senior Center to host special events such as speakers and luncheons.
The Valley’s Meals on Wheels program also operates from the Staunton Senior Center. This program provides lunches to Senior Center participants, along with nearly two hundred home-bound seniors five days a week. 30,000 meals were prepared for those residing in Staunton or Augusta County during 2008.
This new location and visibility for the Senior Center, along with its’ freshly renovated facility will allow the Senior Center to grow and adapt to serve larger and more active seniors population.
